Pink Diamond Spotlight: Dove Campaign For Real Beauty
Women strongly agree that “the media and advertising set an unrealistic standard of beauty that most women can’t ever achieve.” More than two-thirds of women globally expressed this viewpoint in a recent worldwide study. Sadly, the impact is that only 13% of women are very satisfied with their body weight and shape, only 2% of women around the world considers themselves beautiful, and more than half of women say their bodies disgust them.
Inspired by these findings, Dove®, the global beauty brand, launched a national advertising campaign starring real women with real bodies and real curves. The campaign is intended to make more women feel beautiful everyday – celebrating diversity and real women by challenging today’s stereotypical view of beauty.
The Dove Campaign for Real Beauty is a global effort is intended to serve as a starting point for societal change and act as a catalyst for widening the definition and discussion of beauty. Employing various communication vehicles — advertising, www.campaignforealbeauty.com, interactive billboards, panel discussions, and a Self-Esteem Fund — the campaign invites women to join in the discussion about beauty and share their views of it with women around the world. The Campaign for Real Beauty supports the Dove mission: to make women feel more beautiful every day by challenging today’s stereotypical view of beauty and inspiring women to take great care of themselves.
If you can - I would like for everyone that has a strong interest in promoting positive self body image to get involved with the campaign for real beauty. It is our responsibility to make sure that we make one another feel beautiful every day and break down these negative stereotypes of body image. Please read for more information: www.campaignforrealbeauty.com

Voletta Wallace mother of the Late "Notorious B.I.G. Launches Clothing Line
The mother of slain rapper Notorious B.I.G. will launch a clothing line named after her son at the MAGIC Marketplace, a fashion trade event in Las Vegas that attracts the most influential designers and buyers in the business. Dubbed Notorious, the collection features apparel for men, young men and boys, all inspired by the culture, lifestyle, and diversity of the late-rapper’s Brooklyn hometown. “We are excited to launch the collection at MAGIC. The spring collection has been well received by the stylists, trendsetters, and celebrities that have had the opportunity to see the line. There have been many positive comments about the bold, vivid color schemes and innovative graphics,” says Rick Edwards, the line’s Director of Marketing.
B.I.G.’s mother, Voletta Wallace, will debut the label’s spring and fall 2007 collection at the event from Feb. 13 through 16. The line is currently available at many of the top specialty retailers across the country, including Downtown Locker Room, City Blues and J-Bee’s. Let’s continue to support Biggie's memory - this would make a great gift for boyfriends, uncles & brothers.

First Amil, Now Danielle Lloyd? Dumped from The Roc?
Danielle Lloyd has been dumped as the face of Rocawear. The model has been ditched by the trendy label following her racial comments towards Shilpa Shetty on television show "Celebrity Big Brother". The news will be a bitter blow to the ex- Miss Great Britain who has been condemned for her comments against the Bollywood actress. The contract was worth around $197,000USD (£100,000) and would have given her the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of super models Victoria Beckham and Naomi Campbell. Both of which are worldly popular because of their natural aesthetics.
Rocawear's company director Steve Grayson told the press, "As a leading global fashion brand, we condemn any form of intolerance and/or racism." The statement was blunt and definitive of the multi-culture embraced brand owned by the world's most famous rap artist and philanthropist, Shawn Jay-Z Carter. Grayson later added “We don’t believe Danielle to be racist, but cannot ignore the comments made by her while on Channel 4," leaving it very clear there was no exceptions for anyone within Rocawear's business plans to commit such a negative action. Danielle Lloyd has since apologized to the Shetty, who accepted the apology. However, the actress' comments have could not repair the damage done as they spoke louder than the public apology.

Tips and Tricks for Full-Figured Fashion
Who says trends are only reserved for size-2 teenagers?
Thanks to a slew of fashion-forward plus-size stores, women of all sizes and shapes can partake in the latest styles. We asked the experts for their tips on how to translate runway trends for real figures. Truth be told, some of the current looks are challenging, no matter what your size.
"I think this season is one of the trickiest for plus-size women," says Clinton Kelly, co-host of TLC's What Not to Wear. "For crying out loud, skinny jeans can make a size 6 look like a size 12." Here, the pros offer their secrets on how to adapt trends for a curvier shape:
Skinny Jeans and Leggings
Although the boot cut is still a universally flattering classic, slimmer silhouettes are the look du jour. Fran Kauchner, style expert at plus-size retailer Silhouettes, says slim jeans and leggings are popular this year, despite the fact that they can be hard to wear. She recommends a denim legging that marries two great trends and looks modern tucked into a high boot. But Kelly counsels caution. "Skinny jeans put all the emphasis on your hips, thighs, and butt. Some women don't mind that, but most women I know want those body parts to look smaller," he says. If you do want to wear skinnies, "make sure you're doing them in a dark wash, and emphasizing your waist somehow."

Tunics
Today's tunics are a godsend to those of us who love comfort dressing, but be careful with the cut. If your top is too roomy, you could look like you're wearing a tent. "The last thing a plus-size girl should wear is a shapeless tunic that covers the butt. She'll look top-heavy and bigger than she really is," says Kelly. "Tunics are great if they narrow a little at the waist and have darting at the bust." Kauchner recommends embellished and bohemian styles, or a "tress" -- a dress/tunic hybrid that will have the tailoring and the length in one piece.
Belts
Cinching the waist is an easy way to create an hourglass -- and to capitalize on a huge trend. "Wear a chain belt so it's not hugging tightly," says Kauchner. "Wider belts can break up the top half of your body." Should you position it at your hips, natural waist -- or even higher? "Most women are smallest under the bustline, so raise that belt higher than your natural waist -- right at the bottom of your rib cage," says Kelly.
Boots
Tucking pants into knee boots has been a big look for several years now, but now even those who don't have twig-like legs can pull off this style. Silhouettes, J.Crew, Lane Bryant, and Ann Taylor are among the retailers that offer extended-calf boots. Booties also look chic this year -- and fit everyone, regardless of calf size.
Prints
Big, bold prints -- especially animal-inspired -- have made a huge comeback and can help distract the eye from a problem area. Kauchner says a "bold, statement-driven top" with a dark bottom is a no-fail look. "Remember to keep your prints proportionate with your frame," says Kelly. "Just as a petite woman would be overwhelmed by gigantic prints, a plus-size woman can be underwhelmed by itsy-bitsy Holly Hobby florals." This daring tress from Silhouettes (pictured above) offers look-at-me swagger.

Oxygen good for the skin???
According to Fashion Wire Daily - Oxygen is a must to have great skin.
We all know that fresh air is good for the skin. Which means that city smog, smoking and any other impurities in the air will have our skin in the doldrums in no time.
While many might prefer to move to the Swiss Alps for our skin's sake, realistically, that's not an option, so we must find other ways to deliver pure oxygen to our face, sans a lifestyle change.
For years, estheticians have known the benefits of oxygen and have developed ways to work it into facials and products that you can use at home.
Ling Chan is one of the estheticians who has lead the skincare chariot into the oxygen foray. First, she developed her own oxygen-infused products and then used them in combination with an ultrasound machine to create her Oxygen Plasma Facial, a coveted treatment she offers to star clients like Gisele Bündchen, Alicia Keys, Marissa Tomei and Meg Ryan.
"Oxygen is beneficial in a facial because it can instantly rejuvenate the skin," Ling said. "The Oxygen is delivered through oxygen carrying molecules formulated in Ling Skin Care's Oxygen Plasma Potion. This product works to eliminate acne bacteria upon contact, as well as increase circulation. Basically, increased oxygen levels result in better circulation and cellular respiration which in turn leaves the skin glowing and radiant due to rapid skin cell regeneration. Oxygen levels diminish dramatically with age due to many factors such as cardiovascular debilitation, smoking, etc."
Ling also offers an Oxygen 3% Face Cream to treat acne spots and hyperpigmentation. According to Ling, the Chinese military used an oxygen-based formula, similar to her Oxygen Plasma Potion and her Oxygen 3% Face Cream, to treat burns by lowering the skin's temperature and relieving irritation and infection. The concentrated oxygen helps to kill unfavorable bacteria that can cause infection – for us civilians, this means acne.
Tiffany Albert, Founder of Manhattan's Fusion Spa, who was voted Best Facialist NYC 2005 by Citysearch, is also a believer in the power of oxygen.
"I use a customized cocktail of serums in my oxygen-infused facial that deliver pure oxygen and vitamins directly to your skin, eliminating any free radicals," Albert said. "The Oxygen-Infused Facial increases cell metabolism and the production of healthy new cells while permeating toxic material (carbon dioxide) out of the skin's cells."
The result from one of Albert's facials is plumped up, clearer, healthier skin that is better able to heal itself of inflammation and hyperpigmentation from acne, dull-looking smoker's skin and calming post-op or freshly chemically peeled skin.
"Oxygen is also great for healing bruising, diminishing fine lines and rosacea, which can accompany frequent flying - since capillaries are compromised." Peter Thomas Roth, founder of he Peter Thomas Roth Clinical Skin Care Company, also has an array of oxygen-based products. The reason he uses oxygen in his range? "Oxygen is a purifier," he said. "It immediately brightens the complexion, adds radiance and takes away dullness. It also promotes skin's absorption of skin treatment products for maximum efficiency and better results."
Great oxygen products to try at home include Peter Thomas Roth Oxygen Eye Relief ($52, 0.75 oz.), Peter Thomas Roth Oxygen Detoxifying Masque ($54, 4.5 oz.) Ling Oxygen Plasma Potion with Organic Sulfur ($85, 1 oz.), Ling 3% Face Cream ($75, 1 oz.), Epicuren Aloe Vera Gel with Asymmetric Oxygen ($12, 2 oz.) and Sonya Dakar Oxygen Eye Cream ($65, 0.67 oz.).
If you opt for an oxygen-infused facial, Albert recommends getting one every four to eight weeks, depending on the severity of your skin condition (i.e. if you are trying to heal red spots or revitalize smoker's skin). But above all, she says you have to have a proper treatment plan to continue on your own: a regimen that includes exfoliation, antioxidant serums, and an SPF to keep your skin from being further damaged by the wily sun.
So take a deep breath and add a new step to your beauty routine: slather a little oxygen on your skin and watch yourself glow.

What if you don't have an Applebottom?
One of my best friends and I were out shopping at one of the local malls here in Columbus. Both of us were looking for a good pair of jeans. While skimming the racks for what seemed like forever I picked up a pair of Applebottoms jeans that I thought were plain and really cute. Of course they didn’t have my size in the jeans. I found a pair in a smaller size that I thought my friend would like because she is much smaller than me. I handed the jeans over to her for her review and she looked at the jeans and quickly frowned at the logo. "You don't like Applebottoms jeans" I asked? She replied very snappy and sharp - "I can't wear Applebottoms jeans". "Why not I asked?" in a state of confusion. My friend looked at me while rolling her eyes and said - "Because I don't have an Applebottom" "As a matter of fact I don't even have a bottom".
Sorry. I didn’t mean to do it - but I did. I laughed hysterically while my friend stood there with her face turning red from embarrassment. After I was done laughing I grabbed my friend and said lets go I know exactly how to fix the problem.
I took her to a local lingerie store and showed her the secret to shaping a flat but, Of course - I don't have the flat butt problem (which is a benefit to being a thick girl!!) but I know how to correct the problem: The Boom Brazilian Padded Panty. The reason that this padded panty is so good is that you cannot see the lines and padding through your clothing. This is an issue with a lot of the other padded panties out there. It also does not make you look like you have four butts. It appears natural and shapely and no one will ever notice the difference.
Go ahead give it a try!! Let me know what you think!! Tell them Pink Diamond sent you! http://www.galapagosboutique.com

Tuck that Tummy in!!!
With spring approaching fast, I know that all of us are trying to get lose some of this winter weight. (I do it every year!) I always seem to gain weight in my stomach area (like most people) and I want to get rid of it.
This past weekend I went to the salon to for my bi-weekly hair appointment. We were all talking about losing weight and how to make our stomachs flatter. My hair stylist - Christina told me that while she is exercising and dieting - she uses Squeems waist cinchers to train her waist and help flatten her belly.
I have heard of Squeems many times before. I love to read Glamour 411 articles from Galapogos Boutique and they always talk about how great of a product Squeems are.
About Squeems:
Squeem, the Brazilian manufacturer of the Original Cincher, has been shaping bodies in Brazil for over thirty years with their high compression "fajas". These cinchers are made from pure, natural latex and are without question the best cincher in the market. Until recently, these cinchers were not available in the USA. But, now you can achieve the same amazing body shaping results that the Brazilian women have enjoyed for years!
The high compression cincher is designed to be worn while you exercise. Weight loss is accelerated through high compression, increased perspiration, and micro-massage. The power of the latex will promote a micro-massage while you move, helping you reduce your measurements. The cincher focuses compression on the waistline, and increases perspiration which will help melts away fat.
I always seem to buy waist cinchers that last for a couple of weeks and then they are no longer effective. According to my stylist Christina – she has been using this product since the beginning of the summer and it has not lost its effectiveness. I guess I will be purchasing one and I will let you know how it goes!!

Panty Line Dilemna
I don't know about the rest of you out there but I am soooo tired of thongs. Yes I know they may be sexy and all that good stuff but, they are not comfortable. Lets be 100% real - I am tired of digging them out every hour of the day and quiet as kept they are not that sanitary - in more ways than one - if you know what i mean :).
One day I decided that I was not going to wear them anymore. I went to Victoria's Secret and bought all the cute high cut briefs I could find. I went home and tried them on with some of my sexiest work pants and suits. In the midst of trying my new panties on - my boyfriend busted in the door and automatically looked at the back of my pants and said - that's not going to work, you can see the lines through your pants.
Now I am frustrated- what am I supposed to do? Dilemma, Dilemma, Dilemma.
So once again - i pulled out my trusty laptop to find some alternatives. Come on now ladies - I know that I am not the only one with this issue... I went to some of my favorite websites - Bare Necessities & Glamour 411. Here is what I found - Felina Hint of Skin boy shorts.
About Felina Boy Shorts: The Felina boy short collection is the apex of luxury, molding to the body like a second skin. The bras and panties are completely seam-free and sewn free. This ultra modern design and innovative engineering marries freedom of comfort with Felina style.
Finally it looks like we MIGHT have found our answer. At $9.00 a pair I will be buying a few pair!!!
Hey ladies - Why don't you buy some too? Let me know what you think!!!!

My favorite hair care products
Naturally, since we are on the topic of hairstyles and image - its only right to discuss my favorite hair care products. Of course - different hair care products will work for different people. These are the products that I HIGHLY recommend for your hair care regimen.
First let's talk about my hair. I have very fine hair. Its medium legnth and fairly easy to manage. Because its so thin, it breaks off easily so I have to make sure that I have a regimen that not only gives my hair volume, but protects it from breaking off. I also have to use great conditioning products because for some reason moisutre gets stripped from my hair really fast and its really gets dry - especially in the winter.
Here are the products that I use for my hair:
- Design Essentials Botanical Oils Hair & Body Moisturizer with Ginseng.
- Design Essentials organic cleanse deep conditioning shampoo and moisture retention.
- Alterna White Truffle Luxury Shampoo & Conditioner.
- Kera Care Moisturizing Conditioner
- Aveda Deep Penatrating Hair Revitalizer
- Aveda Volumizing Hair Tonic
2007 Spring Hair Trends
Everyone who knows me, knows that the most important part of my image is my hair. I always look for the new styles & trends so that I can get creative ideas on how to wear it. I hate wearing my hair the same way all the time, it bores me.
According to Hairboutique.com crops, bobs and of course - long asymmetrical haircuts will be the mane styles for hair this spring.
Short hairstyles are coming on strong, and subtly undone is fast replacing last year’s shaggy chic, which was in itself lots more controlled than those original bed-head ‘dos of the ‘60s hippie.
Longer hair will always be part of the fashion mode and today’s longer, more feminine looks are not super-long and ultra-straight—most feature layers that allow hair to fall perfectly in place.
In fashion, less splashy clothes allow for hair to be used more as an accessory—the single thing that stands out. Because cuts, too, are on the simpler side, this means color is your main way to make a statement. Striking blonde, rich red or a deep, caramelized brown is a great place to start.
My favorite hairstyle of all times is the Ponytail. Ponytails are so fun, so sexy and sassy. They are easy to manage and you can create so many different types according to the look that you want. Ponytails are also universal, they look great on almost anyone!

Bella Roc - Upscale Rocawear line for women
Shawn Jay-Z Carter's Rocawear Clothing has a new sister line. The rap mogul has announced the launch of Bella Roc, a limited-edition women’s line with items ranging from $125 to $4,000 wholesale. The brand will include crystals and metallic gold stitching on jeans, and will eventually add on a full line of women's sportswear and outerwear. The Bella Roc brand's launch comes briefly after Rocawear's custom fit men's collection, which launched during 2006's New York Fashion Week. Jay-Z's Rocawear brand, which has been under scrutiny lately, still has never seen such demand for pricier products. The clothing company seems to be cruising to new heights with the combined leadership of CMO Jameel Spencer, eFashion Solutions, and PepperJam management. "Jay-Z wants to lock down the women's clothing market and very well may do so with this move if the line is up to par," said a brand analyst.
Bella Roc, will be a limited-edition clothing line targeting women in the 25- to 45-year-old range. Each Bella Roc garment will have expensive embellishments within the design. "Bella Roc will not be taking its styling cues from the more hip-hop influenced Rocawear, also owned by Jay-Z," reported Iconoclast Marketing newsletter. A specific launch date for the Bella Roc clothing brand has not been announced.
When available, photos and more information on the brand will be posted on-line at SoJones.com. A leading On-Line site for Urban & Hip-Hop fashion content for all ages, Bella Roc details found will be liberally posted in the fashion forum community's clothing section for women.

Social Retailing - The next new thing in Fashion??
According to PR Couture - one of my favorite PR websites geared towards those in the Fashion PR Industry, Social Retailing is the next new thing in Fashion. For those of you who are oblivious to social retailing check out the story below:
"Social Networking, Social Bookmarking, Social Shopping, and now, Social Retailing. Have you checked out Fashion Chateau??
As normal, I am here at work researching the newest fashion designs, trends and beauty products. I am still in the process of building my spring/summer wardrobe for 2007 and I cannot seem to find the fashions that have that uniqueness that I am looking for. You know what I am talking about - the fashions that you can buy and have the satisfaction of knowing that 50 other chicks in your city don't have on the same thing. I was so excited to find Fashion Chateau. They have the exact looks that I am going for - The intimate, exclusive, stylish clothing for the trendsetters and the high-fashion women.
Fashion Chateau is the "ultimate online shopping experience" where each shopper is assigned a dedicated personal fashion consultant who maintains phone and email communications to assist customers in making purchases. All of their fashion consultants are seasoned with at least four years of fashion industry experience in styling, and retail customer service.
For questions of fit, what jeans are best for a shopper’s body type, brand information, styling or trend advice, their experts are always on hand to assist customers with their needs. In addition to receiving a personal shopper, customers receive their purchases in a beautifully gift-wrapped box that always contains a gift with purchase and their shopper’s business card. Gifts may include lotions, t- shirts, candles, journals, necklaces, and even gift certificates for services at local spas.
If that does not sound like the ultimate shopping experience, what does?

My weekend beauty items
To accompany my bebe boudoir lingerie, I decided to swing around to Victoria's secret to find some other items that would make my weekend complete. My birthday is 3 days before Valentine's day, so I knew that I would not have any issues finding those perfect items.

Bebe Boudoir
So my birthday is coming up next week and my boyfriend decided that he is going to take me to out of town for the weekend. I am so excited. One of the things that we want to do while are gone is go the Cleveland Cavaliers & Miami Heat game. I took a long lunch break in order to find something to wear, and went into one of my favorite stores - Bebe. I shop there all the time.
So anyway, I noticed that Bebe now has a new line of lingerie called Bebe boudoir.
I really like this lingerie. I think its very sexy and classy. It puts fun back into the bedroom, while being fashionable.
What do you all think?
