Eve launches new clothing line

Rapper and actress Eve Jihan Jeffers is relaunching her clothing line, Fetish.

Fetish by Eve first debuted back in 2003 but the brand was unexpectedly cancelled due to multiple problems between the rapper and partnering company, INNOVO GROUP. Three conflicts made public by the rapper and Fetish sources were production materials, retail delivery, and Eve's dislike for the design direction.

"[Fetish] was a very juniors line and I didn't want to wear it," Eve said to reporters. "They were like 'more branding, we need "Fetish" on the chest, give us some rhinestones.' And I was like, 'No, I'm not wearing that," said Eve in 2004.

The relaunch of Fetish will reflect the Philadelphia born rapper's new sense of womanhood, sexiness, and class. "The new concept is gonna be me, more grown-up. It will reflect more of my style" said Eve.

Hesitant to bring the Fetish line back out, Eve only agreed to do it because an exceptional partner and fashion idealist came along. That partnering company is Signature Apparel.

“I always liked the Fetish name and admired Eve’s style,” says Chris Laurita, president of Signature Apparel.

Eve stressed to Laurita she wanted the “new product to be upgraded with better fabrics, modern styling and more fashionable pieces.”

The result is a full young contemporary sportswear collection, that includes leather jackets, oversize sweaters, high-waisted denim jeans and skirts, leather pants, wool plaid shorts and a few logo t-shirts. The Fetish clothing brand is looking to stay away from overly saturating the designs with the brand name.

Fetish by Eve will be previewed on SoJones.com's fashion discussion board as photos are made public. Requests for the brand can also be left for public review on the Hip Hop clothing industry site's forum or Fetish news article page.

Let's just hope that the dress she had on at the awards is not apart of that line.

Thinking Back/Reflections of the BET Awards

It's been a little while since I have posted anything, life has began to get so busy as I encounter the challenges of trying to start my own Fashion & Beauty PR Company,I am currently working on a relaunch for Pink Diamond (stay tuned) and continue to work full time. I am consistently trying to come up with new, innovative ideas and new ventures to be involved in.

I thought about this time last year, when I attended the BET Awards in L.A. and I was so excited to be in the presence of all those celebrities, athletes, and millionaires. I came back home with my motivation through the roof, thinking that next year (being now) I would be where I want to be. Of course I am not yet, but I can see the light at the end of tunnel. I am running into too many people, doing too many big things - not to accomplish my goals.

So when I turned on the BET Awards last night, I was excited yet sad. Since I occasionally work for awards shows doing PR work, I know all of the behind the scenes stuff that most people don't know about. Putting together gift bags, the politics of the Red Carpet, production troubles, dealing with managers, agents and publicists, coordinating the talent(celebrities), but with all of that drama - its still worth every minute to be apart of that.

I felt like I should have been there again this year. I kept beating myself up - wondering why I did'nt try harder to get there. While I was watching the awards, its almost like - I wasn't watching the awards, I was too busy daydreaming about all of the things that could be going on behind the scenes and thinking to myself - Damn - I should have been there. But, no matter what - y'all know I get the scoop for all hot and sexy styles at the awards.

Take a look:

Rhianna is looking absolutely beautiful in a white strapless dress. I really like Amerie's dress as well. I wonder when her next album is coming out? I heard it was supposed to be soon. I think Ashanti looked amazing too, I think she was one of the best dressed people at the awards. Has anybody used Queen Latifah's makeup collection through Cover Girl? I seen the ad last night, and thought it was pretty good.

Look at Patti Labelle!! I love her dress, it does look a bit futuristic - but its gorgeous and she's Patti so she can do it. I promise you - Patti Labelle, Dianna Ross, Chaka Kahn - they look so good. They make me proud to be a black woman!
I think Ciara looks really pretty, she admitted that she did not like her dress at all. I wonder why? Eve should be the smacking the s$*& out of her stylist and so should Vivica Fox. What went wrong?
Of course - America's favorite Beyonce was looking sexy as always.....

What's up Lil Kim? I am so happy to see you!!! Bring the music back, we missin you out here!

What a hot mess.... Im sorry - I guess I just expected better from these two. I really hate to say that about Vivica Fox though. That's my homegirl. I met her when Two can Play that game came out on 106 & Park. (Yes I was on the show, not in the audience) and she complimented me and my friend's outfits. I knew then she had style. Oh well - I guess we all mess up sometimes.

Dream Shopping Excursion at Grand Canal Shoppes - Venetian Hotel

Hence the word "Dream". I could not afford one thing in this hotel, except probably the quarter slot machines. It was nice to window shop and see whats out there though. It's also good to see what designs will probably be copied and sold next (LOL).

One of my favorite stores here was Lior. They had some of the baddest designer shoes, dresses and jeans I have ever seen. Lior is a contemporary clothing store for men and women that carries designs from Gianfranco Ferre, Jean Paul Gaultier, Missoni and more. The designer names alone will tell you that, I could'nt afford a thing in there. My friend Kim tried on a dress, that the owner of the boutique claimed to have created for Beyonce for an awards show. The dress was $6000.00.

Some of the other stores that I really liked was Amore - an upscale European boutique that carries sleepwear and swimwear, Gandini - an Italian apparel and accessories store for men and women, & Privilege - another high-end European Boutique that carries exclusive designer labels such as Isabella Fiore, Francesco Biasca & Carla Mancini.

Because some of these designs are so "exclusive" some of the boutique owners were reluctant about me taking photos. So here are some of the shoes that I thought were very sexy. These were all taken at boutiques in the Venetian Hotel.

With all of the expensive stores in Vegas, none of which I could actually buy the things that I wanted - I was happy to find a Bijoux Terner accessory boutique where everything in the store was $10.00!

Vegas Fashion Scene

Hi guys!!! I apologize for not posting in a while. Life got so busy for me. I took on another PR Project with Showcolumbus (details later), and have been focused on continuing my PR journey. I got off track for a while, but now your girl is back and you know that I got the 411 on the Fashion Scene in Vegas.

So we all know that the thing to wear this summer is dresses. Its hot outside and dresses are comfortable, feminine and sexy. Well in Vegas - it was 102 degrees the whole time I was there. I was there roasting yall! Hey I don't care anything about whether it was wet or dry heat - It was hot as hell! Period!!

Well the hot weather did not stop the Vegas ladies from stylin. Everywhere I looked, I seen styles that were so hot - I just wanted to run up to people and take pictures. However, i didn't wanna risk looking like the paparazzi, so I took a quick mental note of everything I liked and then I went on a mission to see what Vegas had to offer.

One of the first places that we stopped at was Fashion Show Mall on the strip. Since I am from Ohio and we don't have an abundance of boutique/high end fashion stores, I was pretty impressed by some of the things that I saw. The very first store that I went to was the Betsey Johnson store. I have always been a big fan of Betsey Johnson designs. They are so colorful, fun and wild. My only issue is that, if I bought something really wild - I wouldn't have anywhere to wear it. Lately, I've been bored with the nightlife and if you are not going to the clubs, there is really nothing else to do. So, every Saturday night I look at all the fly clothes in my closet and just wonder when I will ever be ever to wear them.

Betsey Johnson designs:

I left out the Betsey Johnson store and then headed to Marciano (www.marciano.com). Marciano had some hot tops and fly dresses. I remember seeing a couple of girls in the Casino with them on, and looked really sexy on them. Unfortunately, the prices were pretty steep, so I did not buy anything. I continued on my shopping excurison and found French Connection UK (www.fcuk.com), Nurielle Haute Couture (www.nurielle.com) and MetroPark (www.metroparkusa.com). All of which had some pretty trendy things.

Take a look:

Question of the day: Should men wear high waist pants?

I don't know. Maybe I am not open minded enough, but something about this just ain't right.

Carmen Electra teaches us How to be Sexy

Everyone has what it takes to be sexy. Let go of those inhibitions and insecurities and allow Carmen Electra take you from ho-hum to hot.Millions have experienced Carmen Electra’s vivacious charm and drop-dead sex appeal from afar--from her roles on Baywatch and MTV’s Singled Out, to her dozens of movie and television appearances, to her wildly popular Aerobic Striptease videos. Now, in How to Be Sexy, she shows you that even if you weren’t born with an alluring aura (or killer curves), you can learn how to be super sexy. Carmen explains that sexiness starts with confidence, personality, and a willingness to laugh at yourself, so your inner glow will radiate outward and make the world sit up and take notice. Then she reveals the tricks of the trade for upgrading your appearance, with step-by-step instructions for hair styling and makeup application, and choosing fashion that flatters – including tips and techniques from some of the most talented stylists, makeup artists, and coaches in Hollywood. Finally, she shows you how to strut your stuff with chapters on body language and the lost art of seduction.

Hmmm. Don't know if I wanna take how to be sexy advice from Carmen. Maybe if Beyonce, Sanaa Lathan or Eva Longoria wrote it I would not be so reluctant.

Will I Am from Black Eyed Peas Launches "i am Antik" denim collection

Blue Holdings, Inc., a designer, manufacturer and distributor of high-end fashion jeans, apparel and accessories, has teamed up with musician, producer will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas. The two have entered into a collaborative partnership to create “i.am Antik”, an International Premium lifestyle denim brand complementing the already successful Antik Denim Collection. i.am Antik, set to debut in August of 2007, will initially consist of a Premium Denim collection. The i.am Antik collection will be distributed in high-end specialty stores and better department stores. will.i.am, who has designed clothing for and styled his group, the Black Eyed Peas, since their inception, attended Fashion Institute of Design in Los Angeles prior to forming the group. “will.i.am is an amazing performer and producer and his ability to create and market a brand is without parallel. We approached will.i.am for this collaboration because, unlike most celebrities who want their own clothing lines based strictly on their celebrity, will.i.am is an actual designer with incredible passion for designing and he will be intimately involved in all aspects of the design and marketing process. We are convinced this partnership with will.i.am will greatly enhance the Antik Denim brand recognition and sales, both internationally and domestically for Blue Holdings, Inc.,” says CEO of Blue Holdings, Inc. Paul Guez.
“I produce and write my own music, and the same creativity, energy and imagination I put into making music is the same creativity, energy and imagination I put into designing clothes. I am excited to collaborate with Antik to create a fresh
remix of denim,” says will.i.am. “I want to launch and market the clothes in a way that has never been done, combining music and fashion. I want to design the line and score it the way a composer scores a film and tour the collection like a band will tour an album. I want to make a fresh stylistic collection that everyone wants but limited and special to keep them looking for more.” will.i.am was nominated this year for the Grammy Award for Producer of the Year, and has become one of the most sought after writer/producers in the music business, having produced for such artists as Justin Timberlake, The Game, John Legend, Fergie, Snoop Dogg, P Diddy, Nas, Mary J. Blige, Busta Rhymes, the Pussy Cat Dolls, Macy Gray and 50 Cent. He also recently scored the soundtrack for the film “Freedom Writers.”

Beyonce gets perfume deal with Giorgio Armani

Beyoncé Knowles is set to be the face - and voice - of Giorgio Armani's new perfume, Emporio Armani Diamonds. The 'Dreamgirls' star will lend her looks and vocal talents to a TV advertising campaign, after being handpicked by the revered Italian designer. A source told the New York Post newspaper: "They have known each other for seven years, and Armani feels Beyoncé represents the glamour and glitz of the fragrance." The 25-year-old beauty will reportedly sing "an old American song" in the commercials. This is Beyonce's second fragrance deal according to archived news found on SoJones.com. On the fashion site, Beyonce's House of Dereon clothing page, linked news articles reveal the pop and R&B singer formerly signed a deal with Tommy Hilfiger. The 'Crazy In Love' Singer inked and launched a "True Star Gold" fragrance deal with Hilfiger in 2004.
The world-kwown sexy symbol and mega-star has also featured in advertising campaigns for L'Oreal, Pepsi and McDonalds.
Emporio Armani Diamonds is set to hit shelves in September. Further information on the new scent by Beyonce and Giogio Armani will be listed on SoJones.com

Stop smoking, Lose weight & Attract a man with Joey New York

Here's the scoop: A friend of mine contacted me about lsome lip gloss and lip balm products by Joey NY Specialty that she heard about on the Wendy Williams Show (New York) that helps you to stop smoking, lose weight AND - attract a man. Sounds crazy right? I bet you are thinking the same thing as I am - How can cosmetics make you do all of those things? Well here's how it works: It is a proven fact that men are attracted to the aromas of cinnamon and vanilla. These lip products contain a blend of cinnamon and vanilla fragrances that when applied to the lips, the irresistible aroma will get his attention! Contains Maxi-Lip and Dermaxyl-safe clinically proven ingredients to firm and plump the lips.

Hmmm. I don't know about that. I don't think attracting a man is that easy. I sniffed some cinnamon and it did nothing for my hormones. Then again - I am not a man.

So what if you don't need a man, but you do need to lose some of that "winter weight" that won't go away - Joey NY has a product for that also: The LipFit Lipstick. This lipstick contains a proprietary blend of peppermint, grapefruit and spearmint fragrances. When applied to the lips, the fresh minty aroma has proven to safely inhibit appetite. These lip products also contain Maxi-Lip and Dermaxyl-safe, clinically proven ingredients to firm and plump the lips instantly.

So there you have it. No more long hours in the gym, and no more worrying about attracting men. All you need is to buy some CinnaMan & Lipfit lipstick and it will take care of all your problems. Who knew??

Carols Daughter Browning Oil

With all the work that I have been doing lately, its only right that I talk about my preparation for my trip to Vegas. There are only 3 weeks left and I am sooo excited. I need this vacation so bad, because I have not been on a vacation since I went to Atlanta to do PR work for the BET Hip Hop Awards. Really - that was not a vacation, it was alot of work.
So anyway, I have been getting my list of beauty products together and one thing that I noticed is that I do not have a good body bronzer. I have a great face bronzer, but none for my body. Since I am a black woman, its even harder for me to find the right tanner/bronzer to make my skin look even and glowing, without looking burned or orangy (if that's a word).
I looked around for some recommendations and I found something that I might like to try - its called Gelee de Soleil Browning Oil by Carol's Daughter. In their quest for the ultimate in summer skin care and an alternative to over-the-counter tanning products, Carol's Daughter created Gelee de Soleil. Sweet almond oil, virgin coconut oil, cocoa butter, mango butter, shea butter and toasted palm kernel are some of the key ingredients in this oh-so-good-for-your-skin blend. For years this has been a CD lovers best kept secret, known for its essential moisturizing properties. Get in the know and use this 'browning oil' in conjunction with sunscreen to bronze and hydrate your body. The Ingredients in the oil are: Sweet almond oil, virgin coconut oil, corn oil, soy oil, coconut oil, wheat germ oil, cocoa butter, mango butter, toasted palm kernel oil, shea butter, and fragrance oil. Sounds great to me - I think I am going to pick up a bottle. You can get one too: www.carolsdaughter.com for $14.00. Let me know what you think!

Pastry Sneakers

I'm sorry guys for not posting anything in a while. Life has gotten so hectic for me these past couple of weeks as I continue my quest into PR. For those of you who reached out to me about BJ Coleman - thank you! I appreciate your comments. Unfortunately, I have not heard back from him since then, but its okay because I will be keeping in contact him even if I don't get the PR job. I have some really cool ideas that I am going to continue to reach out to him about so he has not heard the last of me. (hehe) Speaking of Mr. Coleman, lately I've noticed that I have an obsession with the whole Simmons family. I watch Run's house over and over again - even the reruns. Whats scary is - I watch the reruns like I've never seen the episode before. I wish that my family was like that - just to be filthy rich and can be sure that any dream that I have, I can do it because my family has built an empire and so that means I can do whatever I want. So anyway, you all know that Vanessa and Angela have come out with their own line of shoes called Pastry (I posted this news before). I have been researching to find out where you can buy the shoes because they are really hot!! They kind of remind me of Nike Air Max's without the stiff pricetag. I love them. I finally found some at a local Underground Station store here in Columbus and you better believe I am going to buy me a pair. For $65 I might buy two. I am thinking of purchasing the Sprinkle shoe and the Brown/Pink Cake Runners. You should grab a pair too!

Going Nowhere Fast

So it seems that my quest for PR greatness is slowly coming to a halt. I have been applying for jobs for over two years, I have probably been on about 5000 interviews and I've done more networking than the law should allow. At this point - I am just wondering what direction I should take. Sometimes I wonder, if Fashion PR is just a dream that will never be fulfilled.

Everyday all I do is read PR news, blogs and the discussion forums from Young PR Pros feeling like I am involved with the industry (which in a way I am), but then again I am not. I do freelance work part-time, but at the beginner(s) level of PR - its hard to prove yourself without people calling you a wanna-be.

So, a couple days ago I was contacted by a colleague in the Young PR Pros group about a PR position over at Baby Phat. The Public Relations Director - BJ Coleman is looking for a PR Coordinator. So of course I applied - over the past few days I have been communicating with Mr. Coleman back and forth and I cannot tell you how excited I am to even have a conversation with him. BJ Coleman is one of the hottest figures in Celebrity PR, he is a former TV host and Celebrity Personal Assistant. Awww how I dream to be in the shoes of Mr. Coleman one day. Funny how life works though - just when I was giving up, someone contacts me with this information. The crazy thing is - even though I know my chances of getting it is probably slim ( just keeping it real, not being negative) its crazy how I am consistently getting MAJOR contacts within the industry. Maybe this will lead to a job one day. For now I will continue to dream. :)
